Blueprint for Just Transition
Engaging Diverse Stakeholder perspectives
Community Leaders
Community Leaders are those who lead your community’s nonprofit organizations, religious organizations, clubs, universities, and other formal and informal community groups. Community leaders can provide information about the impact job and tax base loss may have on their members and may be able to provide transition planning support and implement creative programs and projects.
What they bring to the table
- Connections to community members and cross-sector partnerships
- Ability to convene diverse stakeholders
- May be able to provide space for convenings to take place
- Ability to find and apply for funding
- Capacity to engage in planning activities or implement programs
- Understanding of programs or projects that can move transition forward, such as workforce development or community economic development
- Services for families experiencing instability, such as temporary housing or energy subsidies, emergency food supplies, or child care subsidies

- Determining how the closure of a plant or mine will affect their members and partners and how to provide resources to those impacted
